Alps Trek Registration

Payment

The cost of the Alps Trek will be confirmed once dates are released. A non-refundable deposit will be required to secure your place on the trek.

The trek cost will include flights, transfers, accommodation, meals during the trek and guiding on the trail.

Payment is made directly to Breaking Strain unless you have arranged a bespoke payment agreement with a charity. Once you have submitted your registration form, a member of the Breaking Strain team will contact you with full payment details and next steps.

Payment methods

Self-funding

Participants who choose the self-funded route will pay the operating cost of the trek directly to Breaking Strain. Payment is typically made via an initial deposit followed by instalments in the lead up to the trek. Full payment details and instalment schedules will be provided once trek dates are confirmed.

Fundraising

The fundraising route is available by prior agreement between the chosen charity, Breaking Strain and the participant. In this case, the charity will set a minimum fundraising target which covers the operating cost of the trek. The charity will pay Breaking Strain Events directly and reclaim the cost from the funds raised.

Kit Requirements

Participants are expected to provide their own trekking clothing and equipment suitable for multi-day alpine hiking.

A comprehensive kit list will be provided upon registration which outlines all clothing and equipment required to safely complete the challenge. This will include recommended clothing layers, waterproofs, footwear and other essential trekking equipment.

Where appropriate, certain items may be available to hire or purchase through Breaking Strain. Our team will provide guidance on suitable equipment to ensure you are fully prepared for alpine conditions.

Travel Insurance

You are strongly recommended to purchase travel insurance at the time of, or shortly after, booking.

It is your responsibility to ensure that all activities undertaken during the trip are covered by your insurance policy. Your policy should include cover for trekking activities in mountainous terrain and emergency helicopter evacuation where required.

Breaking Strain also requires your 24-hour emergency assistance telephone number, which can be found within your insurance policy documents. This is usually listed under sections such as Emergency Medical Assistance, Useful Telephone Numbers or What To Do In An Emergency.

If your insurance policy is provided by your bank, you may be required to provide your account details rather than a policy number. Please contact your insurance provider if you are unsure.
