Active in Autumn

It’s Good 2 Give officially came to life in April 2010 to support young cancer patients and their families in real and practical ways.

As well as offering day to day support to those impacted by cancer, It’s Good 2 Give operate the Ripple Retreat – a purpose-built, restful, safe place on the shores of Loch Venachar in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park for those young cancer patients and their families in Scotland.  The award-winning Retreat allows families to use it for a short break together away from doctors, procedures, hospitals, and just enjoy their time together.

On October 1st It’s Good 2 Give launch their first annual “Active in Autumn” event.   Active in Autumn is a virtual challenge that can be run, walked, cycled, hopped, kayaked from any location you choose.  You get to run your own distance, at your own pace, building your mileage as you go.

Due to Covid-19, all charities are struggling as their pipeline to fundraising events has dried up due to restriction on hosting live events. As a result It’s Good 2 Give is offering two entry options in order to allow you to make the choice of where your entry fee goes.

1. On completion of your distance you will receive a finisher’s medal. The charity receives 25% of your entry fee as a donation even before your fundraising. The remainder is spent on financial transaction fees, admin fees, the medal itself and postage and packaging. Please note 100% of your fundraising goes to It’s Good 2 Give.

2. On entry, the charity will receive the cash equivalent of your finisher’s gift and postage and packaging in addition to the existing donation. This means that the charity receives 66.5% of your entry fee even before any fundraising.

The Active in Autumn event is a means to generate a little bit of fundraising to support the work that It’s Good 2 Give do whilst encouraging people to get moving to support their physical, mental and emotional health.

The Events

Glasgow to the Ripple Retreat: 32 Miles

Leaving from the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow you will head north to the Ripple Retreat. This is the entry level distance and we would love to see families and groups signing up to do this together.

Edinburgh to the Ripple Retreat: 55 Miles

Setting off from the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh (close to the It’s Good 2 Give HQ) the 55 miler offers a decent monthly challenge or a target over a longer time for someone who’s just starting out.

Aberdeen to the Ripple Retreat: 131 Miles

Heading south from the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, this challenge asks participants to complete over 100 miles so is ideally suited to someone who’s already training or as a target over multiple months.
