The Arrowhead 135 ultra is a 135 mile race through the wilderness of Minnesota, USA. Following the Arrowhead Trail, competitors have the choice of disciplines: bike, ski or run. Once more, in the absence of any discernable talent on skis or a bike, Lee has opted to grind out the distance on foot.
Racers have to be entirely self-sufficient and as a result all mandatory safety gear must be carried (or dragged) at all times. Although the organisers encourage spectators “the race is about you and the wilderness and your inner dogged spirit!”
For more information on the race have a look at the Arrowhead 135 website or read the article Lee did on Alpkit’s website.
Follow Lee’s progress at the Arrowhead 135 ultra starting at 07:00 hours local time (13:00 hours UK time) on Monday 30th January.
