In 1990, whilst on a bike ride, Gary Erickson decided he could make a better energy bar than the ones available at that time. He got to work in his mum’s kitchen and the ‘Clif Bar’ was born. Since those days, Clif Bar has grown to be the biggest selling energy bar in the US and to this day, Clif Bars still taste deliciously home baked. Since the creation of the first original ‘Clif Bar’, the product range has grown and now has ‘Builders Bars’ which deliver 20g of protein in the form of a very tasty bar and ‘Luna Bars’ which are specifically designed for female nutrition. There is also the popular ‘ Clif Shot Electrolyte’ range of energy products in the form of chews, gels and drinks. But perhaps the most impressive thing about Clif Bar is their commitment to people, to community, and to environment. It’s a truly ethical company.
Paisley Velo’s vision is that they will build a new cycling club from scratch, totally based on an unbreakable team ethic and spirit. The club will have elite riders who will be inspired and supported to win national and international championships in their main cycling discipline(s), in return for them supporting their colleagues and team mates in theirs. All this will be achieved by highly detailed planning and preparation, unparalleled commitment to training, health and fitness, and the best technology and equipment that we can afford, at any particular time. The club will eventually recruit sports scientists, physiotherapists and coaches who actually know what they are talking about, and administrators and mechanics who will work to the same level of commitment and excellence as the riders. Eventually, the club will expand into different ages, levels and disciplines, giving everyone the chance to progress and reach their potential.
